Tyler Myers is also skating with Marc Andre Gragnani. They're skating as the 7th and 8th D-men. Lindy Ruff says Myers won't be ready for Monday's game against Washington. The big defenseman is no longer wearing a splint on his injured wrist, but can't put weight on it or take shots just yet.
Myers is definitely close to returning to the team. The hulking defender last played on November 19th and is on track to return over the next week or two.
WGR's Joe Buscaglia is at Sabres practice and reports that Thomas Vanek is missing once again. The Sabres forward left last night's game in Toronto in the 2nd period with the same injury that's kept him out of practice this week. Vanek will meet with team doctors later today and go from there.
Vanek is clearly playing through something but it remains to be seen if he will miss any more playing time. His 17 goals still lead the Sabres in goal scoring.

David Clarkson says he'll play despite a bad cold.
Clarkson was unable to practice yesterday but will play anyways. The former Kitchener Ranger has 11 goals and 14 points in 33 games under his old head coach.

Elias returns from a bout with the flu. The former captain scored 13 goals and 29 points in 32 games and will replace Travis Zajac on the second line.
Ennis' skate yesterday didn't go well. Tried putting his skates on today, couldn't do it.
Ennis is still struggling with his high-ankle injury. The diminutive forward scored five points over his last eight games but probably misses a significant chunk of playing time.
#Sabres Hecht should start practicing next week.
Hecht has been battling through injuries all season, playing in only eight of the Sabres 34 games. His three goals could indicate he has something left in the tank.

In the 2023-24 season, there were a total of 14 suspensions and 17 fines issued throughout the NHL. The longest suspension served was dealt to former-Detroit Red Wing David Perron at six-games after a cross-checking penalty dealt ironically against his current team in the 2024-25 season, the Ottawa Senators. Additionally, Perron was fined $148,437.48 for his actions.
