ROSTER MOVES: #NHLDucks have reassigned LW Patrick Maroon and LW Jean-Francois Jacques to AHL @SyracuseCrunch.

Maroon loses all of his immediate fantasy hockey value with this demotion. Through two games playing on the team's top line, he registered no points with one shot on goal.

Pat Maroon
Lightning's Steve Downie not on the ice today for what the team called "body maintenance."

Downie plays a rugged, agitating style which should accumulate bumps and bruises over the full season.Through 10 games, the Newmarket, Ontario native has a goal and two points. Look for him to get back onto the ice on Saturday.

#winnipegjets G Chris Mason, who suffered a groin injury in the third period on Thursday, is not on the ice this morning

The Jets play tomorrow and may recall Peter Mannino from the AHL just to backup Ondrej Pavelec. Through four games, and in a decidedly lessened role, Mason has outplayed his younger counterpart.

Julien says Pouliot is sick and doesn't know if he'll make the trip to Montreal with the team this afternoon.

If he was healthy, Pouliot likely would have practiced with Chris Kelly and Rich Peverley this morning. Look for rookie Jordan Caron to fill in for Pouliot should he not travel to Montreal.

Benoit Pouliot
Jochen Hecht's day off "not scheduled," he tells The News. Concussion setback suspected

Hecht has not played in any of the team's nine games this season but began practicing with a line earlier this week. It doesn't sound like he will return any time soon following a setback.

Clutter back w Brodziak/Johnson.

The Wild tried Clutterbuck out on the top line in an attempt to create some space for Mikko Koivu and Dany Heatley. The result was a measly shot on goal over nearly 18 minutes played with the Wild losing their third game in regulation. Look for him back on a checking line where his skills are better utilized.

Cal Clutterbuck
Zanon, Stoner both not skating today. Stoner blocked shot with hand, Mike Yeo said last night #mnwild

The Wild play tomorrow with both players highly unlikely to suit up. Expect the team to re-call a defenseman since they currently only roster five healthy d-men.

"I didn't have much power," Nabokov said after suffering his undetermined injury in the first period. "It had been bugging me for a while, and I was getting more and more fatigued. Sometimes you have to be smart."

Despite playing all 65 minutes last night it does not sound like Nabokov will get a start this weekend. Stay tuned for a further word on his undisclosed injury.

Evgeni Nabokov
Lucic-Horton-Krejci reunited.

After toiling on the third line for most of the season, Krejci moves back to the top line that helped carry the Bruins to the Stanley Cup. Despite scoring only one goal over his first six games this season, the Czech pivot posted 13 goals and 62 points over 75 games.

David Krejci
#canadiens Scott Gomez a patiné ce matin et a recommencé à prendre des lancers. Skated and took shots for the first time.

Good news (or bad news) depending on how you interpret it for the Habs. In his place, Lars Eller holds two assists over eight games. Clearly out of favor in Montreal, it will be interesting to see how coach Jacques Martin uses the diminutive, playmaking center.

What are the latest updates on NHL player suspensions or disciplinary actions?

Already this season we’ve seen the hammer brought down by the NHL Department of Player Safety. Notable suspensions and fines include Ryan Reaves of the Toronto Maple Leafs who was given a five-game suspension for an illegal check to the head against the Edmonton Oilers, and Los Angeles Kings forward Tanner Jeannot who was dealt a three-game suspension, also for an illegal hit to the head.

In the 2023-24 season, there were a total of 14 suspensions and 17 fines issued throughout the NHL. The longest suspension served was dealt to former-Detroit Red Wing David Perron at six-games after a cross-checking penalty dealt ironically against his current team in the 2024-25 season, the Ottawa Senators. Some notable fantasy hockey performers that flew under the radar in most drafts this year include Martin Necas (123 ADP) of the Carolina Hurricanes and Kiefer Sherwood of the Vancouver Canucks.
