LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Kings have recalled defenseman Slava Voynov from the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League and have placed defenseman Drew Doughty on the injured reserve list (upper body injury), Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today.
Voynov should take Doughty's place on the top defensive unit and on the powerplay. Grab him now while you still can.
Another player adding his name to the injury list was Darcy Hordichuk. Hordichuk injured his right knee following a collision with Vancouver's Keith Ballard.
If you own Hordichuk in order to stream PIM, you can probably drop him as he will miss a few games. Look for Ben Eager to take his spot in the lineup.
Ekman-Larsson’s three goals in four games this season are tops in the NHL among defensemen and tied for fifth for all skaters.
Last season he scored a goal and 11 points through 48 games with the Coyotes. This should be a breakout campaign for the former 6th overall pick, grab him while you still can.
Peter Mueller highly doubtful to play against Leafs
Sounds like Mueller will miss his third consecutive game. Look for former Hobey Baker winner Kevin Porter to stay in the lineup.
Also missing yesterday's punish ... err practice was defenseman Marc Methot, who suffered a "tweaked something" in Saturday's game, according to Arniel. Those somethings can heal pretty quickly, but don't know his status for Tuesday.
Should Methot not be able to suit up, look for Aaron Johnson to take over on the team's blue line. Stay tuned for a further update.
#CBJ C Jeff Carter has hairline fracture atop his right foot, suffered Saturday. Could keep him out Tuesday, but not long-term, #CBJ says.
Earlier in the preseason, we advised fantasy owners to be weary of Jeff Carter's achy foot. Following surgery to both feet, they simply are a target on the ice drawing the attention of his opposition. While he was day-to-day due to a bruised foot just a few weeks ago, according to Aaron Portzline of The Columbus Dispatch, via Twitter, he is likely out Tuesday due to a hairline fracture in his foot.

Over five career games against the Ducks, Niemi holds a 3-2-0 record with a 2.01 GAA and .913 SV%.

Over seven career contests against the Leafs, Giguere holds a 3-3-0 record with a 2.04 GAA, .932 SV% and one shutout.
Kings defenseman Drew Doughty is expected to be out at least seven to 10 days after suffering an undisclosed upper-body injury Saturday, though General Manager Dean Lombardi said via email that the injury was not to the defenseman’s head.
Doughty left the game following a big hit by the Flyers' Zac Rinaldo. In his four games this season, Doughty registered one assist with a minus-1 rating. With a shortened training camp Doughty could be more susceptible to injury. More to come...
The right knee he had surgically repaired last February is flaring with troublesome scar tissue, or so I suspect based on asking a few questions of Penguins personnel this week. Malkin has spent a lot of time after practices – and more after the game Thursday – receiving treatment on that knee.
Malkin should sit out a few games before returning. At less than 100 percent he remains one of the most dynamic players in the League. Expect him to draw back into the lineup when healthy.

Dalpe played mostly on the bottom line in his five games this season. The team's top prospect produced no points with a plus-1 rating. Look for the team to make a roster move up front or play seven defensemen.

Mueller continues to skate, which is a welcome sign. He could draw back into the lineup should he have no setbacks but his current status is undefined.

The longest suspension served was dealt to former-Detroit Red Wing David Perron at six-games after a cross-checking penalty dealt ironically against his current team in the 2024-25 season, the Ottawa Senators. Additionally, Perron was fined $148,437.48 for his actions.
