Whitney has an outside shot at getting ready for Game 1. ast season, the former fifth overall pick scored two goals and 27 points over 35 games, leading to an inflated ADP. He should produce around 40 points for the Oilers but should not be expected to rise to an elite level until fully healthy.

Sounds like Smid will at least miss game 1. Last season he only posted 10 assists through 78 points. While he aids his team defensively, don't expect any offensive production from the former 9th overall pick.

Ovechkin could decide not to play the season opener, which would open the door for one of Marcus Johansson or Mathieu Perreault. Last season, the consensus fantasy hockey first overall pick scored 32 and 85 points -- both the lowest totals of his career. Expect him to return to the 50-goal, 100-point range this season.

Kassian posted 144 PIM over 64 games between the Wild and Houston Aeros. He figures to play more of a regular shift than Brad Staubitz.
No fantasy hockey value in the AHL.

Greiss beings a 1-1-0 record with a 1.94 GAA and .944 SV% over two career starts against the Phoenix Coyotes.

Likely just a precautionary measure to maintain Staal's health. Last season he scored 11 goals and 30 points over 42 games, playing between the first and second line. Expect him to approach career highs as he plays a more vital offensive role.

Connolly is listed as day-to-day and probably returns over the next week or two. Connolly scored 13 goals and 42 points last season as injuries limited him to 68 games. Tyler Bozak will take his place in the interim as the top line center.
If Bolland does not dress, Brandon Pirri will stay on the third line with the team dressing seven defensemen. Last season he scored 15 goals and 37 points while centering the second and third line but missed 21 games due to various injuries. The Blackhawks hope he can stay in good health all season.

Over four career appearances against the Stars, Crawford went 1-2-0 with a 3.78 GAA and .851 SV%.

Over 13 career starts against the Nashville Predators, Mason posted two shutouts to go along with a 5-4-4 record, 2.41 GAA and .914 SV%.

Over nine career appearances against the Red Wings, Anderson posted a 2-4-0 record with a 2.88 GAA and .918 SV%.

Bergfors started last season as a healthy scratch as well before the Florida Panthers chose to not offer him a qualifying offer. Don't expect too much until he can prove to coach Barry Trotz he will be a contributing member of the lineup.
Rinne holds an excellent 9-4-0 record with one shutout, a 2.43 GAA and .915 SV% over 14 career starts against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Over three career appearances, Miller holds a 1-2-0 record with a 2.49 GAA and .907 SV%.

Sounds like Ohlund suffered a setback, which should keep the Lightning to dressing six d-men. Last season he managed only five assists over 72 games. He is still looking for his first goal with the Tampa Bay Lightning.

No immediate fantasy hockey value on waivers.

The Leafs likely want Orr to face Zenon Konopka. If he plays over a full season, expect around 200 PIM.

Certainly a good sign for Kadri owners. The 20-year-old managed 17 goals and 41 points through 44 games with the Toronto Marlies of the AHL. He could have a great deal of fantasy hockey value if he returns to the top line.
