Following a poor offensive showing last season, Brule will need to earn a job on a checking line in Edmonton. Don't expect him to reach his numbers of two seasons ago as he will have very limited offensive minutes if he makes the team.

Stephane Robidas will see his first preseason game tonight. The Stars have been careful with him so far in camp and the preseason since he is coming off offseason hip surgery.

Sounds like he is fully healthy. Robidas scored five goals and 30 points in 81 games last season for the Stars. With the departure of Brad Richards, the former 7th round pick will probably find his way back onto the top power play unit.

-- Look for Sanford to get lots of action now the rest of training camp. With Dekanich out for an undetermined length, the Blue Jackets will need to decide if Sanford is a guy they can trust to be Mason's back-up.

Sanford should see a few games before Mark Dekanich returns but no reason to invest in the journeyman goaler. Last season he played 40 games for the Hamilton Bulldogs, posting a 1.93 GAA and .930 SV%. He could be relatively reliable if called upon.

Arniel indicated that Nash - Carter and Prospal would comprise the first line. Kubalik got a shot, then Umberger and Prospal. Odds on who's next: Brassard or Vermette? Or Atkinson?

Prospal is not tied to the top line but could find himself playing there over the course of the season. Prospal displayed sneaky fantasy value last season, scoring 9 goals and 23 points in 29 games while playing mostly with Marian Gaborik. Playing with the team's most talented players, the 36-year-old should be able to replicate those numbers.

C Jeff Carter said the bruise atop his right foot is still a bit painful when he puts it in a tight skate, but he's still able to play.

The versatile forward has a bruised foot from blocking a shot, one that the team hopes to not re-injure during the exhibition game. Watch this situation carefully.

-- LW Matt Calvert (maintenance day) and C Martin St. Pierre (groin) didn’t skate this morning, but their injuries are considered minor, according to coach Scott Arniel.

Probably somewhat hurts St. Pierre's chances of making the team. The diminutive center scored eight goals and 14 points last season with Karpat of SM Liiga but also bounced around the KHL and Austrian League. He has very slim chances of making the team.

D Ted Ruth sustained a sprained knee when he squatted awkardly to the ice after a fight vs. Washington on Wednesday. Ruth is expected to miss two to four weeks.

Doesn't sound like the 22-year-old will make the team. Ruth scored a goal and six points in 52 points with the Springfield Falcons last season. He will need at least one more season in the AHL.

The longest suspension served was dealt to former-Detroit Red Wing David Perron at six-games after a cross-checking penalty dealt ironically against his current team in the 2024-25 season, the Ottawa Senators. Additionally, Perron was fined $148,437.48 for his actions.
