NHL Signings & Free Agents

Cotton was an undrafted free agent, who was a Hobey Baker Award finalist in his senior season at Sacred Heart University. The 25-year-old scored 20 goals with 17 assists (37 points) in 34 games this season. On Tuesday, the Hurricanes also signed Jason's younger brother David, who they drafted in the sixth-round in 2015.

The Hurricanes drafted Cotton in the sixth-round (No.169 overall) in 2015 and he just wrapped up his college career at Boston College. The 22-year-old was third on BU in scoring with 39 points (15G / 24A) in 32 games. Carolina also signed Cotton's brother, Jason, who was a Hobey Baker Award finalist.

DiPietro was an undrafted free agent who just finished his senior season at Western Michigan University. The 24-year-old forward was second on the Broncos with 29 points (12G / 17A) in 35 games.

Ingram was originally picked in the third-round in 2016 by the Lightning but was traded to the predators for a 2021 seventh-round pick last summer. The 22-year-old went 21-5-5 with a 1.92 GAA and .933 SV% in 33 AHL games this season and figures to be the future No.2 netminder behind Juuse Saros.

After picking up seven points (2G / 5A) in 35 AHL games, Whitecloud became a fixture on the Golden Knights' third pair before the NHL suspended the season. The 23-year-old defenseman has picked up just one assist in 16 NHL games while adding 10 hits and 16 blocked shots.

The Oilers selected Lavoie in the second round (No.38 overall) in 2019. The 19-year-old centre was traded from Halifax to Chicoutimi midseason and finished the campaign tied for eighth in QMJHL scoring with 82 points (38G / 44A) in 55 games.

Harper was a fifth-round pick of the Predators in 2016 and just finished his senior season at Boston University, where he was second on the team with 37 points (14G / 23A) in 32 games.

Poolman was an undrafted free agent who had 17 points (4G / 13A) in 31 games in his senior year at the University of North Dakota. He is the brother of Winnipeg Jets' defenseman Tucker Poolman, who also went to the University of North Dakota.

Mackey was an undrafted free agent who just finished his junior year at Minnesota State University, where he led all of their blueliners with 24 points (7G / 14A) in 36 games. He was named WCHA First team All-Star and finished with a league-high plus-19 rating while helping the Mavericks to a league-best 31-5-2 record.

Belzile is in his second season with Laval and earned an NHL-level contract after registering 14 points (7G / 7A) in 20 AHL games. The 28-year-old centre has recorded 132 points (54G / 78A) in 239 AHL games and 169 points (62G / 107A) in 168 ECHL games since turning pro in 2012-13.

Lockwood was a third-round pick (No.64 overall) in 2016 and signed after finishing his senior year at the University of Michigan. The Wolverines captain had 23 points (9G / 14A) in 33 games and will likely report to Utica (AHL) for the 2021 season.

Michaelis was an undrafted free agent who recently finished his senior year at Minnesota State University, where he led the team with 44 points (20G / 24A) in 31 games. The Mannheim, Germany native was named the 2019-20 WCHA Offensive Player of the Year.

McGregor was originally a sixth-round pick of the Maple Leafs back in 2017 but never signed with the team. The 21-year-old appeared in four games with the Toronto Marlies (AHL) last year before returning to the Sarnia Sting (OHL) this year. He was third on the team with 68 points (27G / 41A) in 52 games.

Biro was an undrafted free agent who just finished up his senior year at Penn State University, where he had 25 points (10G / 15A) in 25 games. Biro will likely join Rochester (AHL) when the NHL and AHL return to play, whether it be for the 2020 or 2021 season.
