Erskine has yet to play this season because he had been a healthy scratch for the first five games. He must have sustained an injury n practice and the move to IR will allow the Capitals to recall someone who might actually play from the AHL.
NHL Injury Report
Stars head coach Lindy Ruff said that Gonchar is getting better but he remains unavailable for Friday and Saturday's games. Monitor his status prior to Tuesday's meeting with the Blues.

Nichushkin continues to improve but he will miss the Stars' back-to-back games vs. the Devils and Islanders on Friday and Saturday. Monitor Nichushkin's status leading up to Tuesday's game vs. the Blues.

Goligoski was reportedly cut by a skate on Tuesday night and he is also dealing with an undisclosed "nagging" injury. The Stars are hopeful that Goligoski will be in the lineup on Friday in New Jersey.

Crawford remains day-to-day, but will miss at least two games and maybe more with an upper-body injury. Expect Antti Raanta to start on Thursday.

This is great news for the Kings' and perfect timing following the indefinite suspension of Slava Voynov. Muzzin is the 'cross darling' and will be back on the top-pair with Drew Doughty and should be a rock solid fantasy defenseman this season.

The Blues have reportedly been hit hard by the flu bug. They will take on the Canucks tomorrow, so monitor Steen's status during the morning skate.

Grabovski's movement to IR means that he is ineligible to play on Thursday, but could return on Saturday. It was likely a roster move to allow Lubomir Visnovsky to be activated from IR and play tomorrow.

Crawford, who was originally scheduled to start on Tuesday, missed his start due to an upper-body injury and is danger of missing Thursday and Friday's back-to-back because of the injury. Antti Raanta will draw a second straight start on Thursday if Crawford is unavailable.

Lehtera missed Sunday's game and Tuesday's practice because of the flu, but he was back on the ice this morning, which suggests that he will be in the lineup on Thursday.

Bortuzzo, 25, has not played yet this season because of an upper-body injury. Bortuzzo has two goals and 12 assists (14 points) in 75 career NHL games. He will have to battle with Simon Despres for playing time on the Penguins blueline.

Grabovski skated on his own Tuesday, but has joined his teammates this morning. This is a positive sign that Grabo is not far from a return. He is doubtful for Thursday's game vs. the Bruins, but could be back on Saturday vs. Dallas.

Coburn took part in warmups and it appeared as if he was going to return to the lineup, but he ended up missing his fifth straight game with a lower-body injury. He could return Wednesday vs. the Penguins.

Optimism is fading that Horton, 29, will be able to play this season and there is growing concern that his career might be finished. Horton signed a seven-year, $37.1 million dollar contract last summer and has only suited up in 35 games with Columbus. Horton has been diagnosed with “degeneration” of the entire lumbar region of his spine. Surgery has not been scheduled or ruled out, but it is viewed as a last resort. It’s a delicate procedure, with no guarantee of relief.

Killorn fell into the boards at the morning skate on Monday and missed last night's game as a result. Originally the Lightning said he was fine and only got the wind knocked out of him, but it has clearly developed into a more serious issue.

Callahan was injured in the Lightning's loss to the Oilers and will be out for a bit. Head coach Jon Cooper said that things could change into a day-to-day issue if he progresses well. Expect Mike Blunden to play tonight after being recalled this morning. No word on who will move up to the top-line.

Visnovsky was originally listed as a game-time decision, but he did stay on late with the extras which suggested that he wouldn't return to the lineup tonight. This latest report confirms he won't be in the lineup.

Hamonic said he is not a player who likes to miss games and sounded like he would play this morning, so this report confirms that. He has one goal and a plus-3 rating in five games.

Muzzin has yet to play this season, but is nearing a return. He said he will not rush back just because of Slava Voynov's arrest, but he still feels like he is ready to make his season debut on Thursday.

Torres' knee injury kept him out of all but 12 regular season and playoff games last year. In August, general manager Doug Wilson said a second surgery would be needed because of an infection that required the removal of the first ACL replacement. Now, however, everyone involved has decided that Torres will take a different approach in returning to the ice.The team did not set a timetable for Torres's return, though Wilson indicated that it should be less than if the veteran forward had undergone a second operation.

This allows franchises with the ability to exceed the salary cap while a player is placed on this reserve list.
No injury recovery timeline is the same as another as there are several factors that go into the rehab process for a player being affected by injury. Factors include but are not limited to, injury severity, player injury/medical history, age, as well as the location of the injury. Some injuries are able to clear up in a matter of days, while others may take an athlete out of action for the entirety of a season.
