Thorburn was a healthy scratch during the Jets’ season opener, but he will draw into the lineup for Joel Armia on Saturday. Thorburn had just 12 points (6G / 6A) in 82 games last season.
Stuart was a healthy scratch in the Jets’ season opener, but will replace Ben Chiarot in the lineup on Saturday. Stuart isn’t much of an offensive defenseman. He had just three points (1G / 2A) in 64 games last year.
Barzal sat out of the Islanders’ season opener, but will draw into the lineup on Saturday. Barzal will centre the third line with Ryan Strome on his right wing and Anders Lee on the left. Barzal is also expected to play on the Islanders’ top power-play unit.
Folin was a healthy scratch in the Wild’s season opener but will draw in for Mike Reilly tonight. Folin was highly sought after coming-out of college a few years ago, but has yet to carve out a permeant role on the Wild blueline. Olin had four assists in 26 games a season ago.
Reilly played 14:09 and was a minus-1 in the Wild’s season opening loss in St. Louis and tonight he will come out of the lineup in favour of Christian Folin. It may be more of a reaction to their opponent than a knock on Reilly. The Jets are a heavy, physical team and it should be a game more suitable for Folin’s game.
Burmistrov was a healthy scratch in the Jets’ season opener on Thursday, but it looks like he will draw in on Saturday after it was announced that fellow centre, Bryan Little is out indefinitely with a lower-body injury. Burmistrov centred the third line with Shawn Matthias and Nikolaj Ehlers on his wing in Friday’s session. The 24-year-old had just 21 points (7G / 14A) in 81 games last year.
Sergachev made his NHL debut on Thursday, blocking two shots in 11:48 of ice time. With Jeff Petry (knee) expected to return to the lineup on Saturday, it looks like it will be the rookie Sergachev who will sit. If he can’t work his way back into the lineup, look for the Canadiens to send him back to the Windsor Spitfires (OHL).
Hjalmarsson was handed a three-game suspension for his preseason hit on Blues’ forward Ty Rattie, but only missed one regular season game. He returns to the Blackhawks blueline tonight and will be paired with Duncan Keith.
Motte picked up one assist in 12:16 in his NHL debut on Wednesday and will be rewarded by being bumped up to the second line tonight. In the Blackhawks’ morning skate, Motte skated with Kane in Anisimov, a spot usually reserved for Artemi Panarin, who was moved to the top line with Jonathan Toews. Marian Hossa was bumped out of the top-6—this is a look the Hawks gave in the preseason, let’s see how it works out in Nashville tonight.
Santini was expected to start the season on the Devils’ third pairing, but a late signing of Kyle Quincey will push him out of the lineup tonight. He has offensive potential, but likely won’t be given enough opportunity to make a fantasy impact this season.
Quincey signed a one-year deal with the Devils a few weeks ago and will play on the third pair with Johann Auvitu on Thursday. Steven Santina will sit in the press box so that Quincey can play. He had just 11 points (4G / 7A) in 47 games with the Red Wings last year.
A week ago it looked as if Bennett was going to play with Taylor Hall and Adam Henrique. Today, he won’t even be in the lineup. Bennett was acquired from Pittsburgh this summer, but his Devils debut will have to wait.
Paajarvi sat out of the Blues’ season opener on Wednesday, but will replace Jaskin in the lineup tonight vs. the Wild. The 25-year-old former first round pick had just nine points (3G / 6A) in 48 games last year.
Jaskin failed to pick up a point in the Blues’ season opener on Wednesday. Jaskin played just 12:14 TOI and will come out of the lineup tonight with Mangus Paajarvi replacing him.
Bortuzzo picked up just one shot on goal in 13:17 TOI in the Blues season opener on Wednesday. St. Louis is back in action tonight vs. the Wild, but Bortuzzo will sit and Carl Gunnarsson will replace him.
Gunnarsson served as as healthy scratch in the Blues’ season opener on Wednesday, but will get into the lineup tonight vs. the Wild. Gunnarsson has little-to-no fantasy value, having posted just nine points (3G / 6A) in 72 games last year.
Rieder had not skated with the Coyotes since signing his two-year extension two weeks go. On Wednesday, he got back on the ice and skated on the Coyotes’ second line with Christian Dvorak and Anthony Duclair. Rieder played well in the World Cup of Hockey and could be poised for a breakout year in the Arizona top-6.
Versteeg signed with the Flames on Tuesday and it looks like he will play with Johnny Gaudreau and Sean Monahan in his debut tonight. Versteeg has a chance to sting the Oilers right away after deciding to sign with their rival instead.
Gunnarsson will be replaced by Robert Bortuzzo in Wednesday’s season opener in Chicago. Gunnarsson is not a fantasy asset, having registered just nine points (3G / 6A) in 72 games a season ago.
Konecny, 19, was the 24th overall selection in 2015 and made the Flyers’ opening night roster following a great training camp. Konecny had 101 points (30G / 71A) in 60 games between the Ottawa 67’s and Sarnia Sting (OHL) last year and will star this year in the Flyers’ top-6 on a line with Sean Couturier and Jakub Voracek.
