The Anaheim Ducks may not have a pick in Friday’s first round of the 2026 NHL Entry Draft, but they’ve just locked up a former draft pick for another couple of years.

On Thursday, the Ducks announced that they have signed defenseman Ian Moore to a two-year contract extension.

According to PuckPedia, the deal will carry an average annual value (AAV) of $1.15 million.

Moore, 24, played 67 games for Anaheim last season, putting up four goals and eight assists for 12 points while averaging about 13 and a half minutes of ice time. He then had a goal and no assists while averaging about ten minutes of ice time in ten playoff games. He also went pointless in four games for the Ducks’ American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate San Diego Gulls last season.

The Salt Lake City native was selected by Anaheim out of the United States Hockey League (USHL) in the third round of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft.

Moore then played collegiately for Harvard University, where he appeared in the NCAA tournament in 2022 and 2023. He was a steady contributor during his four-year career with Harvard, with his most productive campaign coming in his sophomore season of 2022-23, when he had a goal and 18 assists for 19 points in 34 games.

After finishing up his senior season with Harvard, Moore joined the Ducks’ organization to finish up the 2024-25 season. He registered one assist in three games for Anaheim that year, and had a goal and four assists for five points in nine games with San Diego.

Internationally, Moore represented the United States at the 2022 IIHF World Junior Championship, where he had one assist in five games as the United States lost to Czechia in the quarterfinals.

The Ducks have six picks at the upcoming 2026 NHL Entry Draft, with their first scheduled for the second round at 50th overall.
