Blues’ David Perron fined $5,000 for cross-checking Avalanche’s Nazem Kadri
David Perron has been given a $5,000 fine for his cross-check on Nazem Kadri during Game 4 between the St. Louis Blues and Colorado Avalanche, the NHL’s Department of Player Safety announced on Tuesday.
The incident in question came five-and-a-half minutes into the second period after the Avs had taken a 3-1 lead. Perron was given a two-minute penalty for cross-checking and Kadri scored shortly after Perron came out of the penalty box.

During Game 3 of the Blues and Avs series, Kadri collided with goaltender Jordan Binnington while diving for a puck in St. Louis’ crease. Binnington left the game and it was announced the following day that he would miss the rest of the series due to injury.
Kadri has since been the target of racial attacks and threats of retaliation. He entered the ice in St. Louis for Game 4 under the watch of a St. Louis police officer.
In the third period, Kadri scored his third goal of the game, and, while celebrating, Perron tried to clip him up high with an elbow. Perron wasn’t penalized for the play.

The Avs won Game 4 by a score of 6-3 and now lead the best-of-seven series 3-1. They’ll have a chance to win the series on Wednesday in Colorado.
