Bruins’ Charlie McAvoy, David Pastrnak hope to play during team’s road trip

The Boston Bruins are hoping two of their biggest contributors will return to the lineup this week.
Forward David Pastrnak and defenseman Charlie McAvoy will join the Bruins for their upcoming three-game road trip in the Central Division, according to The Athletic Boston reporter Fluto Shinzawa, with each player hoping to play at some point.

Pastrnak, 29, last played for the Bruins on Nov. 26, while the 27-year-old McAvoy hasn’t dressed for Boston since Nov. 15.
In 25 games this season, Pastrnak has 11 goals and 18 assists for 29 points. Earlier this season, the Czech native scored his 400th career regular-season goal, becoming the sixth Bruin in franchise history to hit the 400-goal mark.
In 781 career regular-season games, Pastrnak has 402 goals and 460 assists for 862 points. Now in his 12th NHL campaign, Pastrnak, a first-round pick in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, has recorded three 100-point campaigns, including 113 in 2022-23. That season, he led the league with 43 even-strength goals and 13 game-winning goals.
Pastrnak has also skated in 90 career playoff games, where he scored 39 goals and added 48 assists for 87 points. He was part of Boston’s 2019 Stanley Cup Final run, where he posted nine goals and 10 assists for 19 points.
Meanwhile, McAvoy, a native of Long Beach, N.Y., has 14 assists in 19 games this season, averaging 23:46 of ice time. In nine NHL seasons, the 2016 No. 4 overall pick has 60 goals and 254 assists for 314 points, averaging 23:26 of ice time in 523 career regular-season games.
McAvoy has also played in 91 career Stanley Cup Playoff games, where he’s recorded six goals and 42 assists for 48 points points, averaging 25:09 of ice time in the postseason. He was also part of the Bruins’ 2019 playoff run, where he recorded two goals and six assists for eight points, averaging 24:30 as a 21-year-old.
The Bruins are 17-13-0 with 34 points in 2025-26, second in the Atlantic Division and sixth in the Eastern Conference.
