The Boston Bruins will be without one of their top centers, as Elias Lindholm is day-to-day with an upper-body injury.

Lindholm sustained the injury during Tuesday’s 3-2 overtime win over the Nashville Predators. The cause of the injury is not known, but he left the game midway through the second period and did not return, with the Bruins eventually confirming his absence. Lindholm finished the game with only a shot on net in 11:03 of ice time.

At this point in time, Lindholm is only expected to be day-to-day with the injury, and has only been confirmed to miss Thursday’s game against the Philadelphia Flyers. The Bruins don’t play again after that until Sunday, with only one more game on Wednesday after that before the Olympic break, so there will be plenty of time for Lindholm to recover without missing too many games.

Lindholm’s status for the Swedish hockey team at the 2026 Olympics in Milan, Italy is currently not known, although the day-to-day nature of his injury likely means he’ll be good to go. Sweden opens the tournament on February 11th against Italy, which means Lindholm has two weeks to fully recover and not miss any action for Sweden.

Lindholm has already missed 10 games this season due to a lower-body injury he sustained in November. When he’s been healthy, he’s been excellent for the Bruins, as he has 11 goals and 26 assists for 37 points in 44 games.

With Lindholm out of the lineup, Fraser Minten is expected to take his place in the top six alongside Morgan Geekie and David Pastrnak. The Bruins also recalled Matthew Poitras from the Providence Bruins to give the team another option at center with Lindholm hurt. Poitras is expected to skate on the third line with Michael Eyssimont and Marat Khusnutdinov.

The Bruins currently sit in fifth in the Atlantic Division with a 31-20-3 record, good enough for the final wild card spot in the Eastern Conference. They’ll look to continue their 9-1-1 stretch when they host the Flyers on Thursday at 7 p.m. EST.
