Bruins’ Elias Lindholm placed on injured reserve; Alex Steeves recalled

The Boston Bruins announced Saturday that forward Elias Lindholm has been placed on injured reserve, paving the way for the team to call up Alex Steeves from their AHL affiliate.

Lindholm, 30, suffered an injury during the Bruins’ Oct. 30 4-3 overtime win over the Buffalo Sabres. He was injured when he collided with Sabres forward Jordan Greenway, and stayed down on the ice until teammates helped him off.

Bruins head coach Marco Sturm told reporters the next day that Lindholm will be out of the lineup on a week-to-week basis with a lower-body injury.

In 13 games this season, Lindholm has four goals and five assists for nine points. Now in his second season with the Bruins, the Boden, Sweden, native has 21 goals and 35 assists for 56 points in 95 regular-season games. He signed with Boston ahead of the 2024-25 season, inking a seven-year deal with an annual average value of $7.75 million through the 2030-31 campaign.

Through 13 NHL seasons, Lindholm has 239 goals and 374 assists for 613 points in 913 regular-season games with the Bruins, Calgary Flames, Carolina Hurricanes and Vancouver Canucks.

He’s also appeared in 40 playoff games, scoring 13 times and adding 14 assists for 27 points.

Meanwhile, Steeves has three goals and five assists for eight points in nine games with the Providence Bruins in the AHL. In 14 career NHL games, all with the Toronto Maple Leafs, the 25-year-old has one goal and two assists for three points.

In 2024-25, Steeves finished with 36 goals and 26 assists for 62 points in 59 rfegular-season games with the AHL’s Toronto Marlies.

The Bruins are 9-7-0 with 18 points through their first 16 games of the 2025-26 regular season. They’re in Toronto Saturday night to face the Leafs, with puck drop at 7 p.m. ET.
