Hurricanes’ Jordan Martinook leaves game with lower-body injury

Carolina Hurricanes forward Jordan Martinook had to leave the team’s game against the Nashville Predators on Wednesday night early with a lower-body injury, the team announced.
Forward Jordan Martinook will not return to tonight’s game (lower body)
Martinook, who has been with the Hurricanes since the 2018-19 season, is an alternate captain and a key cog in establishing the team’s identity as a member of their checking line alongside Jordan Staal and William Carrier. Eric Robinson was elevated from the fourth line to the third in Martinook’s absence.
Through 33 games this season, the Alberta native has 11 points on 4 goals and 7 assists. The 33-year-old winger is coming off of a career-best offensive season in 2024-25 that saw him produce 15 goals and 21 assists for 36 points in 79 games played.
Since being drafted by the Arizona Coyotes, Martinook has appeared in 752 regular season games in which he’s scored 99 goals and dished out 145 assists for 244 points. He also has 33 points in 76 career Stanley Cup Playoff games, all of which have come during his time in Raleigh.
The Hurricanes entered Wednesday’s game riding a four-game winning streak that came entirely against Metropolitan Division opponents. When the puck dropped, Carolina held sole possession of first place in both the division and the Eastern Conference with a record of 21-9-2.
Carolina had just gotten fully healthy for the first time since the second game of the season, as Jaccob Slavin was the last player to return out of a lengthy list of players on the team to miss time.
Wednesday’s contest was the first of a three-game road trip for the Hurricanes. The team will travel to the Sunshine State for a back-to-back that gets started on Friday night against the Florida Panthers and wraps up on Saturday in a showdown with the Tampa Bay Lightning.
