On Monday, the Chicago Blackhawks announced that forward Jason Dickinson has been placed on injured reserve. In response, the team has called up forward Oliver Moore from its American Hockey League affiliate, the Rockford IceHogs.

When speaking to the media, head coach Jeff Blashill reported that Dickinson has traveled back to Chicago while the team continues its six-game road trip, and is considered week-to-week. Blashill also mentioned that he expects Moore to be in the lineup on Monday night, when the Blackhawks take on the Seattle Kraken.

Dickinson’s placement on IR is retroactive to Oct. 30, when he left the Blackhawks’ matchup against the Winnipeg Jets early and was later diagnosed with a shoulder injury. Per the NHL’s IR rules, the 30-year-old will have to remain out of action until at least Friday, when the Hawks are scheduled to visit the Calgary Flames.

Dickinson has been hit by the injury bug a couple of times already this season. An upper-body injury forced him to miss the team’s home opener last month as well. A wrist injury last March also led to Dickinson being kept out of action for the final weeks of the 2024-25 campaign. He played just 59 games last year, scoring seven goals and nine assists for 16 points.

In eight games thus far, the Georgetown, Ont. native has scored a goal and an assist, as he found the back of the net on Oct. 15 against the St. Louis Blues.

Moore signed his entry-level contract with the Blackhawks after he and the Minnesota Golden Gophers were eliminated from the NCAA Tournament last spring. He ended up playing nine games before the end of the 2024-25 season, notching four assists in his first stint with the big club. He started off the year with the IceHogs and has been rather productive, scoring six goals and three assists for nine points in the first nine games of the season.
