The Colorado Avalanche announced Friday that goaltender Mackenzie Blackwood has been placed on injured reserve.

The team also announced that goaltender Trent Miner and forward Taylor Makar have been recalled from their AHL affiliate, the Colorado Eagles.

According to Guerilla Sports reporter Meghan Angley, Blackwood is out with a lower-body injury.

Blackwood last played against the St. Louis Blues on Dec. 31, stopping 12 of 13 shots in a 6-1 victory. There were no reports of him suffering an injury during or after the game.

In 16 games this season, Blackwood is 13-1-1 with a .924 save percentage (SV%) and a 13.9 goals saved above expected (GSAx). His 2.07 goals against average (GAA) leads the league. Now in his second season with the Avs, Blackwood is 35-13-4 with a .916 SV% and 2.25 GAA.

Now in his eighth NHL season, Blackwood, a native of Thunder Bay, Ont., has a 116-104-29 record with a .907 SV% and 2.91 GAA with Colorado, San Jose Sharks and New Jersey Devils.

He’s also played in seven Stanley Cup Playoff games, all with the Avalanche last spring, going 3-4 with an .892 SV% with 2.71 GAA.

Taken by the Devils in the second round of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, Blackwood spent three seasons in the Ontario Hockey League with the Barrie Colts. He posted an 84-42-4 record with a .910 SV% and 2.94 GAA in 139 regular-season games.

The Avalanche are 30-2-7 with 67 points through 39 games, leading the Central Division, Western Conference and the entire NHL.
