The Daily Faceoff Morning Report will be released on weekdays, recapping the key news and events from the day before.
We will highlight injuries that will affect today’s games, hot streaks, cold streaks, and anything relevant for everyone from the casual hockey fan to the Fantasy Hockey grinder.
Hurricanes have their way with the Capitals
If the playoffs started today, the Carolina Hurricanes would face off against the Washington Capitals in the opening round. The Hurricanes sent a clear message to their would-be opponents with a dominant 6-1 victory. Martin Necas (C, RW) led the way with three points (2G / 1A). He now has six points (4G / 2A) in his last four games after having registered only seven points (1G / 6A) in his previous 24 games.

Blues gets important win over Canucks
Going into action on Monday, the St. Louis Blues had lost nine of their last 12 games (3-6-3) and have been flirting with falling out of the top three in the Central Division. Ville Husso (G) made 35 saves on 36 shots to give his Blues a much-needed win and extend the points gap between them and the upward-trending Canucks to eight points. Vladimir Tarasenko (RW) had three points (2G / 1A), including the 500th of his career, to give him 58 points (23G / 35A) in 58 games this season. Tarasenko has never finished a full season at a point-per-game pace. David Perron (LW, RW) scored a goal in the game to give him 19 points (14G / 5A) in his last 13 contests. No player has more goals than Perron in that time.

He has six points (2G / 4A) in his last 14 games after having 22 points (7G / 15A) in his first 21 games. Kevin Lankinen (G) and the Chicago Blackhawks had a 4-0 lead and have now lost after having huge leads in consecutive games. On Saturday, they had a 3-0 lead in the third period before losing 5-4 to the Golden Knights in overtime.

Mikko Koskinen (G) made 31 saves on 32 shots for the win, rebounding from consecutive Edmonton losses where he allowed a combined nine goals on 39 shots. Ryan McLeod (C, LW) led the way with three points (2G / 1A), scoring a goal for only the second time in his last 29 games.

— Edmonton Oilers (@EdmontonOilers) March 29, 2022Leon Draisaitl (C, LW) scored a goal in the third period, his second of two points on the night (1G / 1A), to give him 48 goals on the season. Draisaitl now sits tied in first with Auston Matthews (C) in a tight NHL goal-scoring race. The Toronto Maple Leafs have 17 games remaining while the Edmonton Oilers have only 15.
Kraken crush Kings
The Seattle Kraken defeated the Los Angeles Kings 6-1, the most dominant victory of their existence to date. Previously, their largest margin of victory was four goals. The scoring in the game was very spread out, as 14 different Kraken players registered at least a point and Vince Dunn (D) was the only player with a multi-point game (0G / 2A). Chris Driedger (G) made 36 saves on 37 shots to record only his fifth quality start in 16 starts this season (6-9-1). The Los Angeles Kings still sit second in the Pacific Division but have lost six of their last 10 games (4-4-2) and only have a two-point lead over the third-place Oilers and a five-point lead over the Golden Knights.
