The Dallas Stars are getting their top-line center back in the lineup.
The team announced that Roope Hintz has been activated from injured reserve, and is expected to play against the Colorado Avalanche on Friday.
We have activated Roope Hintz from IR 🚨
Hintz, 29, has yet to play for the Stars since the NHL’s return from the the Olympic break. He had been dealing with an illness which forced Dallas to move him to IR on March 3rd.
In 52 games played this season, the Finnish national has 15 goals and 29 assists for 44 points.
Hintz also played for Finland’s national team at the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics, where he had a goal and three assists for four points in six games en route to Finland capturing a bronze medal.
Initially drafted by the Stars in the second round of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, Hintz is now in eighth season with Dallas. After steadily improving his production and earning more ice time over the first few years of his career, Hintz peaked in the 2022-23 season with a career-best campaign of 37 goals and 38 assists for 75 points in 73 games. He has since maintained a solid level of play, putting up 30 goals and 35 assists for 65 points over 80 games in 2023-24, and then notching 28 goals and 39 assists for 67 points in 76 games last season.
Hintz is in the third season of an eight-year, $67.6 million deal that he signed with Dallas in November of 2022.
With 85 points through 61 games, Dallas is the second-placed team in the entire NHL. Unfortunately for them, the one team above them, Colorado, is also their Central Division rival, meaning they’re still just second place in their own division.
The Stars will kick off a six-game homestand with Friday’s game against the Avalanche.
