Jason Robertson continues to add to his next contract with stellar season

Dallas Stars general manager Jim Nill has been hard at work in securing the key core pieces of his team for the long haul. Just in the past calendar year, he’s gotten Mikko Rantanen, Wyatt Johnston, Thomas Harley and Esa Lindell signed to lengthy deals.
There’s still one crucial member of the Stars whose future is somewhat in limbo right now, and that’s winger Jason Robertson. Robertson was the subject of trade speculation over the summer as Dallas was facing a possible cap crunch, but Nill made it work by getting under the ceiling without moving Robertson and his current cap hit of $7.75 million.
Robertson is slated to be a restricted free agent after this year, and his price tag is likely only increasing, as he’s compiled 35 points on 16 goals and 19 assists in 26 games this year, good enough to lead a strong Stars team in both goals and points.
On Monday’s episode of Daily Faceoff LIVE, host Tyler Yaremchuk and co-host and former NHL goaltender Carter Hutton were joined by Daily Faceoff Managing Fantasy Editor Brock Seguin to discuss Robertson’s excellent run of form of late and what it means for him in a contract year.
Carter Hutton: There’s a lot to watch out there. Can you give me a stat?
Brock Seguin: I’ll give you all of ’em, because that’s what Jason Robertson led the NHL in last month. It was just an unbelievable month… Last month, he led the NHL in goals and was tied for the NHL lead in points. He had 13 goals, 26 points. He also led the NHL in shots on goal with 62, and he was tied for second in power play points. So he basically led the NHL in everything. During that month he scored at a 71-goal, 71-assist pace over 15 games. Just unfathomable numbers. Obviously if he keeps this up, he’s making a pretty compelling case to be on Team USA in February.
