The Dallas Stars have been one of hockey’s hottest teams, winning a franchise-record nine straight games, including a 6-1 victory over the Vancouver Canucks Monday night.

The Stars are now 37-14-9 with 83 points, second in the Central Division, six points back of the first-place Colorado Avalanche with a third-best goal differential of plus-42. With the team placing forward Tyler Seguin on season-ending long-term injured reserve, Dallas will have an extra $9.85 million in cap space to play with.

On Tuesday’s episode of Daily Faceoff LIVE, Tyler Yaremchuk and former NHL goaltender Carter Hutton discuss the Stars’ winning ways and who has stepped up for them during their nine-game win streak.

Carter Hutton: The Stars got their ninth win in a row and they’re heating up at a pretty interesting time.

Tyler Yaremchuk: A huge win for them on Monday, and I think the fact that this Dallas Stars team has been quietly winning hockey games, and that’s an important factor in a division that’s absolutely loaded. There’s been so much talk about what Colorado has and what the Minnesota Wild have, but Dallas keeps chipping away and you know general manager Jim Nill has something up his sleeve.

Something that’s important for me is that Dallas has the second-best power play in the league. They’re buzzing at 30.1%, and Miro Heiskanen is on a six-game point streak. This is him playing 25 minutes a night on average. This guy is an absolute workhorse, and for those who don’t remember, he missed the first-round series against the Avs, then he came back, trying to catch a moving train during the playoffs.

Heiskanen staying healthy will become an integral piece when you look at what he can bring to this team.
