Kings provide injury updates to three players

As training camp gets underway, we learn more and more about which players are still banged up entering the season, and on Thursday, the Los Angeles Kings provided an update on wingers Kevin Fiala and Mats Zuccarello, and defenseman Brian Dumoulin.

Fiala is the most notable of the three, as he is still working his way back from a leg injury sustained during the 2026 Winter Olympics which sidelined him for the remainder of the season. The injury required two surgeries, one after the initial injury, and another over the summer after something felt off while skating. He’s expected to be back on the ice in the next week, and then will undergo a two week ramp-up period before joining the rest of the team. It’s hopeful that he’ll return by the start of November, but it’s not a guarantee at this point.

Zuccarello is currently dealing with minor shoulder injury sustained from a fall last week. The expectation with Zuccarello is that he’ll be in the lineup next week. He is still participating in training camp for the time being, but was wearing a red non-contact jersey.

Dumoulin was not present for the start of training camp, as he has not passed his physical to allow him to participate. At this point in time, it’s not known what caused the failure, and if it was an injury, the specifics of the injury and what caused it. He’s undergoing more testing and getting a second opinion on the injury, so there’s no clear timeline for when he’s expected to join the rest of the team. Dumoulin didn’t deal with any injuries last season, so unless he played through an injury and it was not disclosed to the public, this issue likely occurred during the offseason.
