Frost re-signs Katy Knoll to one-year contract

On Friday, the Minnesota Frost announced that they have re-signed forward Katy Knoll to a one-year contract for the 2025-26 season.
Knoll recently finished up her rookie season with the Frost, the team that took her in the seventh round, 39th overall, of the 2024 PWHL Draft.
“I am so excited to be returning to the Frost next season and continue to build off of the great success the team has had the last two years,” Knoll said in a release. “I’m looking forward to seeing all the fans and getting back to work with the team in the fall.”
The signing occurred just before the 2 p.m. ET pause in the league’s signing period. It will reopen on July 8 at 9 a.m. ET.
Knoll was a player who spent the majority of the 2024-25 season on the team’s bottom six. It led to the former Northeastern Husky scoring just one goal and an assist in 21 regular-season games. However, she picked up her game in the playoffs. In the Frost’s eight games, she potted two goals and three assists for five points, including the game winner in triple overtime in Game 3 of the PWHL Final against the Ottawa Charge.
Minnesota would go on to win the following game, clinching the team’s second straight Walter Cup. Knoll finished tied for sixth in playoff scoring with teammates Kelly Pannek, Mellissa Channell-Watkings and Klára Hymlárová.
Along with her pro and college career, Knoll has also represented her country. The former Toronto Aero won the gold medal with the United States at the 2018 IIHF Under-18 Women’s World Championship, taking home the silver in 2019.
With Knoll signed on for another year, the Frost have 15 of a possible 23 players signed to standard contracts for next season. Knoll is part of a forward group that includes Kendall Coyne Schofield and Taylor Heise. The only new face Minnesota has signed thus far is former Boston Fleet defender Sidney Morin.
The Frost have decisions to make on the six picks they made in the 2025 draft earlier this week, which include talented young prospects like defender Kendall Cooper and forward Abby Hustler.
