A couple of veterans are set to return to the lineup soon.

On Friday, the Minnesota Wild announced that defenseman Zach Bogosian and forward have been activated from injured reserve. In response, the team sent defender David Jiricek to its American Hockey League affiliate, the Iowa Wild.

Bogosian was placed on IR in October after suffering a lower-body injury in a game against the Washington Capitals. The veteran rearguard blocked a shot in a 5-1 loss to the Caps on Oct. 17 and hasn’t played since.

Prior to his injury, Bogosian had appeared in five games, but has yet to register a point in his second full season in Minnesota. He has a plus/minus of +3 while averaging just under 14 minutes of ice time per game.

Sturm hasn’t played at all this season, as back surgery prior to the regular season getting underway knocked him out of action for almost the first two months of the year. The German center started his career with the Wild, spending parts of three seasons in Minnesota before being dealt ot the Colorado Avalanche in March 2022. There, he was part of the team that won the Stanley Cup.

Sturm re-signed with the Wild this past July, just months after lifting Lord Stanley once, this time with the Florida Panthers, signing a two-year contract with an AAV of $2 million. The 30-year-old had been traded to the Panthers by the San Jose Sharks at the trade deadline.

Sturm scored seven goals and seven assists for 14 points in 62 regular-season games during the 2024-25 season, playing in eight contests during the postseason.

Jiricek has played 12 games this season with the Wild, but failed to register a point. He posted a -3 rating while averaging 12:08 of ice time.

The Wild (10-7-4) are set to face the Pittsburgh Penguins on Friday night.
