Per the league’s LTIR rules, Downie-Landry will not be eligible to return to the lineup until Dec. 17, when the Victoire visits the Toronto Sceptres in the PWHL Takeover Tour in Halifax.
Downie-Landry joined the Victoire in the offseason, signing a one-year contract in June. The Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Que., native spent her first two PWHL seasons with the New York Sirens.
“It’s a dream come true to represent my hometown,” Downie-Landry said when the signing was announced. “There’s nothing more special than putting on a Victoire jersey and playing for a city and fans that mean so much to me.”
Through two seasons with New York, Downie-Landry has 12 goals and seven assists for 19 points in 54 career regular-season games.
The Victoire play their first game on Sunday when they travel south of the border to take on the Boston Fleet. Montreal then heads home for two games as they host the Sirens, then the Toronto Sceptres.
The Victoire finished the 2024-25 season with the best record in the PWHL, going 12-7-3-8 with 53 points, five points clear of the second-place Sceptres. They were eliminated in the first round of the PWHL playoffs in four games by the Ottawa Charge. All four games were decided by one goal.
Captain Marie-Philip Poulin, whose 19 goals led the PWHL and 26 total points placed her fourth in the league, earned both PWHL Forward of the Year honors and the Billie Jean King MVP Award as the league’s most valuable player.
