One of the most talented and charismatic players in the game is staying in la belle province.

On Wednesday, the Montreal Victoire announced that the team has signed forward Abby Roque to a two-year contract, which will carry through the 2027-28 campaign.

Roque is coming off an unforgettable 2025-26 season. At the 2025 PWHL Draft, Roque was traded by the New York Sirens to the Victoire, marking a notable change for a Montreal team that had struggled to find success in the Walter Cup Playoffs. While some questioned if the Sault Ste. Marie, a Mich. native, would fit in on a team with Marie-Philip Poulin and Laura Stacey. Roque immediately meshed with her new team.

Roque set career highs in goals (8), assists (14) and points (22) in 29 regular-season games, leading the Victoire in scoring, tied for 10th among all PWHL skaters. In her first postseason experience, Roque showed the talent that once made her a member of the U.S. National Team. Roque scored four goals and eight points in nine games, finishing tied with Poulin, who won the Ilana Kloss Playoff MVP Award, for the playoff lead in scoring. With a highlight-reel goal in the clinching Game 4 against the Ottawa Charge, Roque helped power the Victoire to the franchise’s first Walter Cup.

With Roque sticking around, the Victoire have a solid and talented core for the next couple of years. Even with four new teams coming into the league, with a few members of the team already signed in the expansion process, Montreal is going to be one of the best teams in the PWHL once again.

In 83 regular-season games in the PWHL, Roque has scored 20 goals and 32 assists for 52 points. Along with her pro career, Roque has hardware from the world stage, winning a gold medal with Team USA at the 2023 IIHF Women’s World Championship and 2015 IIHF Under-18 Women’s World Championship. She’s also taken home the silver medal at the 2014 U-18s, the 2021 Women’s Worlds and 2022 Winter Olympics.
