A young rearguard will miss some time.

On Monday, the Nashville Predators announced that defenseman Adam Wilsby wouldn’t be playing in that afternoon’s game against the Detroit Red Wings and is out week-to-week with a lower-body injury.

Wilsby’s injury stems from his premature exit this past Saturday against the Dallas Stars. The Swedish blueliner registered just 5:48 of ice time across eight shifts before leaving the contest early in the second period. The cause of the ailment has yet to be announced. The Predators ended up losing to the Stars in overtime.

Wilsby has been in and out of the lineup this season, both due to injury and healthy scratches. The 25-year-old has appeared in 45 of the team’s 59 games thus far, scoring a goal and 11 assists for 12 points, having last put his name on the scoresheet on Feb. 5 with a two-assist effort against the Washington Capitals. He also has a plus/minus of -3 while averaging 16:37 of ice time.

This is the Stockholm native’s first full season in the NHL. He split the 2024-25 campaign between Smashville and the club’s American Hockey League affiliate, the Milwaukee Admirals. While he posted five points in 23 games with the Preds, Wilsby notched a goal and five points with the Admirals.

Wilsby had been proven to be a solid two-way blueliner with Milwaukee. After scoring 18 points in his rookie season in 2022-23, he added another 21 points in 61 appearances the following year.

The Predators (27-24-8) come into Monday’s action fifth in the Central Division, but just three points back of the Seattle Kraken for the last Wild Card spot in the Western Conference.
