The New Jersey Devils are bringing in some experienced depth for their blueline.

On Wednesday, the Devils signed defenseman Vladislav Kolyachonok to a one-year contract.

The deal will carry a cap hit of $850,000.

Kolyachonok, 25, split last season between the Dallas Stars‘ and Boston Bruins‘ organizations. In 11 games with Dallas, he had a goal and two assists for three points. He also played 34 games for Dallas’ American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate Texas Stars, where he put up a goal and eight assists for nine points. In December of last season, he was claimed off waivers by the Bruins. He went pointless in two games for Boston before getting put back on waivers and re-claimed by the Stars.

The Belarussian national was initially a second-round pick of the Florida Panthers in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. He played his junior hockey almost entirely with the Flint Firebirds of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL).

In the 2020-21 season, Kolyachonok left the OHL to go play for the Minsk Dynamo of the KHL, where he had six points in 46 games. Later that year, he returned to make his North American professional debut with the AHL’s Syracuse Crunch, where he had two assists in 10 games.

Ahead of the 2021-22 season, Kolyachonok was traded along with defenseman Anton Stralman and a second-round pick to the Arizona Coyotes as a salary saving maneuver by Florida, in exchange for a seventh-round pick.

Kolyachonok spent three-plus seasons with the Coyotes’ organization, staying with them during their move to become the Utah Mammoth. In 62 NHL games with the Coyotes/Mammoth over that time, he notched four goals and eight assists for 12 points.

Midway through the 2024-25 season, he was waived by Utah and claimed by the Pittsburgh Penguins. He recorded two assists in 12 games for Pittsburgh before getting traded to Dalas in July of 2025 for defenseman Matt Dumba and a second-round pick.
