Sirens sign Maja Nylen Persson, Denisa Krizova to one-year extensions

A couple of exceptional Euros are staying on the East Coast for a little bit longer.
On Tuesday, the New York Sirens announced that the team has signed forward Denisa Krizova and defender Maja Nylen Persson to one-year contract extensions.
Krizova is set to enter her first full season with the Sirens. The team acquired her ahead of the trade deadline last March, as New York sent defender Jincy Roese to the Minnesota Frost. After the season was over, Krizova re-signed with New York on a one-year deal, protecting her during the expansion process. Now, she’s on the books through the 2027-28 season. Nylen Persson, who signed a three-year contract with the Sirens when the team drafted her in 2024, signed a one-year extension last September. She’s signed through the 2028-29 campaign as a result of the new deal.
Krizova is expected to bring some secondary scoring that the Sirens have been craving since the PWHL’s inaugural season. During her time with the Frost, she showed she can play the role effectively, helping the team win the league’s first two Walter Cups. She scored a goal and an assist in seven games with the Sirens to end the 2025-26 season, ending up with seven points in 30 total games.
The Czech scorer has posted nine goals and 13 assists for 22 points in 84 regular-season games in the PWHL, with two goals in 18 postseason contests.
After a rocky rookie season, Nylen Persson began to show the skill that made her one of Sweden’s best defenders. She played with more confidence, even if her numbers weren’t as revealing. In 30 games, the 25-year-old posted two goals and nine assists for 11 points, registering a plus/minus of -8 while averaging 21:48 of ice time, leading the Sirens.
In 53 career games with the Sirens, Nylen Persson has posted four goals and 13 assists for 17 points.
With the Krizova extension, the Sirens have 11 players under contract through the 2027-28 season. Nylen Persson joins rookie Makenna Webster as the only players currently under contract for two more years.
The Sirens open up the 2026-27 season on Dec. 6, hosting the rival Boston Fleet.
