One of the surprising players from last season is going to remain in her hometown for a couple more years.

On Tuesday, the Ottawa Charge announced that the team has signed forward Rebecca Leslie to a one-year contract extension. The deal keeps the Ottawa native on the books through the 2027-28 campaign.

Leslie just finished the first season of her two-year contract, which she signed in June 2025. That deal has a cap hit of $60,000. The financial terms of her extension have yet to be disclosed.

Leslie earned an extra year with the Charge after a breakout performance this past season. On a Charge team that was relatively dismantled during the expansion process last summer, she picked up the offensive slack, and then some. After scoring just one goal in 2024-25, the 30-year-old set career highs in goals (14), assists (9) and points (23), nearly doubling the point total from her first two years in the PWHL. Leslie finished tied for second in the PWHL in goals, trailing Top Goal Scorer and Points Leader winner Kelly Pannek of the Minnesota Frost by two. Leslie also finished tied for fifth in the league in scoring, just three points back of former Charge captain Brianne Jenner.

Her play helped Ottawa reach the postseason for the second year in a row, as the Charge upended the Boston Fleet in the semifinals and advanced to the Walter Cup Final once again. Leslie scored the game-winning goal in Game 3 against the Montreal Victoire, keeping the Charge alive before ultimately bowing out in four games.

Leslie was named a Second Team All-Star at the 2026 PWHL Award Ceremony.

Leslie, who started her PWHL career with Toronto in the league’s inaugural season, has potted 17 goals and 18 assists for 35 points in 81 regular-season games, adding 10 points in 21 playoff contests.

The Charge have 16 players signed to contracts for the 2026-27 season, 14 of which are returners. They are eligible to add three more players prior to training camp.
