Kleven will not play in Sunday’s game against the Boston Bruins, per Ottawa head coach Travis Green.
Travis Green says Tyler Kleven won't play tomorrow against Boston. Left the game with a lower-body injury.
In 31 games played this season, Kleven has four assists while averaging about 17 and a half minutes of ice time. Last season, the Fargo, North Dakota native registered four goals and six assists for 10 points in 79 games, while averaging about 14 and a half minutes of ice time.
The Senators selected Kleven out of the USHL in the second round of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. Kleven then played three seasons in the NCAA for the University of North Dakota, where he would compile 20 goals and 15 assists for 35 points over 95 games.
Kleven, 23, joined the Senators for eight games towards then end 2022-23 season before becoming a full-time professional in the 2023-24 season. That year, he played just nine games with Ottawa, as he saw most of his action with the AHL’s Belleville Senators, where he had five goals and 16 assists for 21 points in 53 games. Kleven then became a full-time NHLer in the 2024-25 season.
Ottawa remains stuck in the middle of the amorphous blob that is the Eastern Conference standings. After Saturday’s win against the Blackhawks, the Senators have 38 points through 34 games, which puts them just two points back of a top-three position and playoff spot in the Atlantic Division. However, they are only four points clear of the Buffalo Sabres and Columbus Blue Jackets for last place in the conference.
The Senators will now hit the road for Sunday’s game against the Bruins before returning home to host the Sabres on Tuesday.
