Some roster shuffling for the team in the City of Brotherly Love.

On Sunday, the Philadelphia Flyers announced that the team has placed forward Travis Konecny on injured reserve due to a lower-body injury.

In response, the Flyers have called up defenseman Oliver Bonk from their American Hockey League affiliate, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.

Konecny’s placement on IR is retroactive to Oct. 8, when he last appeared in the Flyers’ lineup in a 2-1 loss to the Ottawa Senators. Per the NHL’s rules, he must sit out seven days, meaning he won’t be eligible to return to the lineup until Oct. 17, when the Flyers host the Ottawa Senators and will miss at least the next three contests.

It hasn’t been revealed what exactly is ailing Konecny or when he was hurt. He logged 17:04 against the Sens last Thursday, adding an assist in the loss. The 29-year-old has put some points on the board so far this season, though it has hardly helped what has been a miserable first couple of weeks for the Flyers. In five appearances, he has registered three assists, which leads the team in overall scoring.

Bonk made his NHL debut last season, scoring a goal and an assist against the Montreal Canadiens on April 14. He also appeared in one game during Philadelphia’s second-round series against the Carolina Hurricanes. The 21-year-old just started his second season of pro hockey, having posted two assists through two games with the Phantoms.

The Flyers (0-4-2) look to finally get in the win column on Sunday night, though it’s a tough ask going up against the defending Stanley Cup champion Hurricanes.
