Report: Flyers to sign Claude Giroux

After four-plus years away, it appears Claude Giroux is returning to the city of brotherly love.
According to David Pagnotta, the Philadelphia Flyers are signing the veteran forward as an unrestricted free agent.
Meanwhile… Claude Giroux is signing with the Flyers
The term and financial details of the deal are not yet known.
Giroux, 38, spent the first 14 full-time seasons of his NHL career with the Flyers, serving as the team’s captain in 10 of those seasons.
Last season, the Hearst, Ontario native had 14 goals and 35 assists for 49 points in all 82 regular season games for the Ottawa Senators.
Giroux, who was selected by Philadelphia in the first round (22nd overall) of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft, is the Flyers’ second-leading scorer of all time, with 291 goals and 609 assists for 900 points in 1,000 games played.
During his time in Philadelphia, Giroux made one Stanley Cup Final appearance, alongside current Flyers general manager Danny Briere, in 2010. He also finished top-five in Hart Trophy voting in 2012, 2014, and 2018. His best season in Philadelphia came in 2017-18, when he scored 34 goals and added 68 assists for 102 points in 82 games.
At the trade deadline of the 2021-22 season, the Flyers traded Giroux to the Florida Panthers for a package built around forward Owen Tippett. Giroux would finish that season with 23 points in 18 games for Florida, before contributing eight points in their 10 playoff games.
In July of 2022, Giroux signed a three-year, $19.5 million deal with Ottawa. Over the course of that contract, he compiled 193 points in 245 games, before re-signing with the Senators on a one-year, $2 million deal in June of 2025.
Friday has been a big day for Philadelphia, as they also signed Anaheim Ducks center Leo Carlsson to an offer sheet that would make him the highest paid player in the league.
