PWHL Hamilton sign Zoe Boyd to two-year contract

PWHL Hamilton announced Thursday they signed defender Zoe Boyd to a two-year contract through the 2027-28 season.
Boyd is the first player to be added by Hamilton during the third phase of the PWHL’s expansion player distribution process, and the sixth player to join the team.

Boyd played 12 games with the Boston Fleet in 2025-26, recording one assist, four penalty minutes while averaging 17:17 of ice time per game. She suffered a season-ending injury last February in a practice during the Winter Olympic break.
She joined the Fleet ahead of the 2025-26 season, signing a one-year deal after spending her first two professional seasons with the Ottawa Charge.
In three PWHL campaigns with the Fleet and Charge, Boyd has seven assists and 31 penalty minutes in 51 career games. She was taken in the ninth round of the inaugural PWHL Draft by Ottawa.
She’s also played in eight PWHL playoff games and was part of the Charge’s run to the Walter Cup Final against the Fleet last spring.
Before turning pro, Boyd spent five seasons playing college hockey with Quinnipiac University. In her senior campaign, where she served as captain, she recorded three goals and 11 assists for 14 points.
In 135 career NCAA games, Boyd had nine goals and 42 assists for 51 points.
PWHL Hamilton have made several notable signings in their first-ever offseason, inking forwards Emily Clark and Alina Muller, defender Nicole Gosling, goaltender Kayle Osborne and former Ottawa Charge captain Brianne Jenner.
The team announced in late May they hired Kris Sparre as their head coach. He was the bench boss for the Fleet last season, and is currently a candidate for the PWHL Coach of the Year.
