PWHL unveils jerseys for all four expansion teams

Some new threads for the new teams in the Professional Women’s Hockey League.
On Thursday, the league revealed the jerseys for the four expansion franchises set to take the ice for the 2026-27 season.
Fans already knew the basic colors for Detroit, Hamilton, Las Vegas and San Jose. Now, they’ll know what to expect when they see them in game action for the first time this fall.

The PWHL announced that the four franchises would follow the first eight teams’ lead and have only the city name across the front of their jerseys for the first season.

While each team has its sweaters, they still don’t have nicknames and identities for their first season. Any logos and imagery that will be released in the near future can be expected on the jerseys in 2027-28.

Each team has differing expectations heading into its first year. Detroit seems to have the best roster, on paper. With the signings of players such as Daryl Watts, Hilary Knight, Hannah Bilka and Cayla Barnes, along with selecting Andrea Brandli with the team’s first-ever draft pick in June, the new team in Hockeytown is projected to battle for a playoff spot in the new Western Conference. Las Vegas will have something to say about that. General manager Dominique DiDia did her due diligence to build her team through the draft, selecting players like Lacey Eden and Tessa Janecke, along with signing veterans Erin Ambrose and Nicole Hensley.

Hamilton and San Jose both have question marks. Hamilton has some solidified star power in Brianne Jenner, Alina Muller, Nicole Gosling and Kayle Osborne, but playing in an Eastern Conference with the Victoire, Fleet and Charge could bring challenges. San Jose left many fans and critics confused with its approach, as Troy Ryan chose grittier players over recognizable talent.
The 2026-27 regular season kicks off on Dec. 5. Hamilton will visit the defending Walter Cup champion Montreal Victoire, while San Jose hosts the Minnesota Frost. Detroit and Las Vegas will begin their inaugural campaigns against one another on Dec. 6 in the Sin City.
