Sharks re-sign Collin Graf to three-year contract

A growing player in the Bay Area is receiving a significant payday.

On Friday, San Jose Sharks general manager Mike Grier announced that the team has re-signed forward Collin Graf to a three-year contract. The deal will carry an AAV of $4.25 million through the 2028-29 season.

Graf was at the end of his three-year, entry-level contract that he signed with the Sharks in April 2024. That deal had an NHL AAV of $1,283,333, with a minor-league salary of $82,500.

Graf was a restricted free agent as of July 1, and coming off his first full season in the NHL, and it was a solid one. On a Sharks team that was vastly better compared to years past, he set career highs in goals (21), assists (25), points (46) and plus/minus (+6), appearing in all but one game during the regular season. The 23-year-old finished third on the team in goals behind Macklin Celebrini and Will Smith, while ending up sixth in overall scoring. With Graf providing secondary scoring, the Sharks made an honest push for the franchise’s first Stanley Cup Playoff berth since 2019. Ultimately, the team stumbled late in the year, finishing fifth in the Pacific Division, four points back of the last Wild Card spot in the Western Conference.

The Quinnipiac product certainly has the talent to be a key contributor in San Jose for the foreseeable future. On top of being a solid scoring threat, he is slowly developing the defensive side of his game and could become an effective two-way asset.

In 121 games with the Sharks, the Lincoln, Mass. native has scored 26 goals and 33 assists for 59 points. On top of his NHL career, Graf saw significant time with the Sharks’ American Hockey League affiliate, the San Jose Barracuda, during the 2024-25 campaign, posting eight goals and 35 points in 40 regular-season games, before adding another five points in six contests during the Calder Cup Playoffs.
