Sharks unveil ‘Heritage 2.0’ jersey for 2025-26 season

Another team is donning some throwbacks in part of a commemorative season.
On Friday, the San Jose Sharks announced that the team will be introducing their “Heritage 2.0” jerseys in honor of the franchise’s 35th year of operation.

— San Jose Sharks (@SanJoseSharks) September 26, 2025“We have a rich history of game-changing players and trendsetting jerseys,” Sharks Chief Marketing Officer, Doug Bentz, said in a release. “While we continue to see growth in new fans attracted by our young core and community engagement, it’s important to connect the foundation of our past with our bright future. Heritage 2.0 isn’t just a jersey, it’s a symbol of the era that made us who we are, on and off the ice.”
The jersey is a throwback to what the Sharks wore on a full-time basis from the 1998-99 season through the 2006-07 campaign, when the NHL introduced the Reebok Edge sweaters that led many teams to rebrand. It involves the team’s inaugural logo, with black and silver trim.
The team saw quite a bit of success when wearing the “new-age” jerseys. San Jose qualified for the Stanley Cup Playoffs in seven of the eight seasons with the unis, making it to the second round five times, including an appearance in the Western Conference Final in 2004.
The Sharks will be wearing the Heritage 2.0 jerseys four times this coming year, with the team honoring San Jose alumni, among celebrations, as part of the 35th anniversary season. They’ll first rep the sweaters on Oct. 30 against the New Jersey Devils, with Jeff Friesen, Kyle McLaren, and Mark Smith in the house. On Nov. 20, against the Los Angeles Kings, the team will be hosting a celebration of Joe Thornton’s induction into the Hockey Hall of Fame.
San Jose will be in the sweaters on Dec. 3 against the Washington Capitals, with franchise legends Patrick Marleau, Evgeni Nabokov and Mike Ricci in attendance. The last time fans will see the Sharks in the cool outfits will be on March 1, when Scott Hannan, Owen Nolan and Scott Thornton will be honored as well.
The news comes a day removed from the Minnesota Wild announcing that they will be wearing a rendition of their original uniforms to commemorate their 25th season.
