Kraken’s Vince Dunn out day-to-day with undisclosed injury

When speaking to the media on Tuesday, Seattle Kraken head coach Lane Lambert stated that defenseman Vince Dunn is considered day-to-day. Lambert didn’t confirm what is ailing the veteran blueliner.
While it hasn’t been announced when or where Dunn was hurt, he did exit the Kraken’s game on Monday night against the Calgary Flames in the second period. It came after the 28-year-old was involved in an altercation with Flames forward Martin Pospisil, in which a high stick caught Dunn up high.

Dunn was given a roughing penalty for the incident, while Pospisil was awarded a minor for cross-checking. Dunn didn’t return to the game after that. Dunn registered 9:49 of ice time across 10 shifts. He posted a shot on goal, while blocking a shot and delivering a hit in a game that saw Seattle fall to the Flames, 2-1, in a shootout.
Dunn is heading into his fifth season with the Kraken. The Mississauga native is one of the original members of the team, having been taken by Seattle in the 2021 NHL Expansion Draft. He has been a key member of the team’s D-Corps, providing a little bit of offense, scoring a career-high 64 points during the 2022-23 season, which saw the Kraken qualify for the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the first time.
Last season, Dunn appeared in 62 games, missing over a month due to a mid-body injury. He scored 11 goals and 28 assists for 39 points, down from the 46 points he notched during the 2023-24 campaign.
In 542 career regular-season games in the NHL, Dunn has potted 75 goals and 211 assists for 286 points. He’s also scored 18 points in 43 postseason contests, helping the St. Louis Blues win the Stanley Cup in 2019.
Dunn is entering the third season of his four-year contract, which he signed with the Kraken in July 2023. The deal carries a cap hit of $7.35 million through 2026-27.
Other scenes from Kraken practice on Tuesday were the returns of forwards Chandler Stephenson and Jared McCann. Stephenson exited the Kraken’s game against the Flames last Wednesday with an undisclosed injury, while McCann suffered a lower-body injury earlier in camp.
