Keeping Carcs on the Wasatch front. We have signed forward Michael Carcone to a two-year contract extension.
It’s a solid pay bump for Carcone, who signed a one-year, two-way contract extension this past July, with the deal holding a cap hit of $775,000. In fact, the Ajax, Ont. native’s new deal will mark in his NHL career that he has a salary over $1 million.
The multi-year contract comes as Carcone is in the middle of one of the best seasons of his NHL career. In 66 games, he has scored 14 goals and 12 assists for 26 points. While he might not reach his career-best 21 goals from the 2023-24 campaign, when the franchise was known as the Arizona Coyotes, the 29-year-old is close to matching the 29 points he scored in the team’s final season in Tempe.
Carcone sits ninth on the Mammoth in scoring, a little back of teammate Clayton Keller, who leads the pack with 67 points in 69 games.
Carcone has certainly worked his way to becoming a full-time NHLer. After finishing his junior career a decade ago, he grinded through the American Hockey League for a few seasons before signing with the Coyotes in 2021. He finally got a taste of the big leagues that year, and became a regular on the roster during his breakout campaign three seasons ago.
In 223 regular-season games in the NHL, he has potted 48 goals and 35 assists for 83 points.
The Mammoth (36-27-6) are currently fighting for a playoff spot. The team sits fourth in the Central Division, holding onto the first Wild Card spot in the Western Conference.
