The Utah Mammoth signed forward Joshua Roy to a one-year, two-way contract on Monday, just hours after acquiring him from the Montreal Canadiens.

The deal will pay Roy $850,000 at the NHL level and $150,000 in the minors, according to PuckPedia.

Last season, the 22-year-old forward scored 23 goals and added 22 assists for 45 points in 57 AHL regular-season games with the Laval Rocket, the Canadiens’ AHL affiliate. He also played in three NHL games with Montreal.

In 145 career AHL games, Roy has 56 goals and 56 assists for 112 points. He also has six goals and five assists for 11 points in 38 NHL games.

The Mammoth acquired Roy from the Canadiens on Monday in a deal that sent defenseman Maksymillian Szuber the other way. Szuber, 23, spent the 2025-26 campaign with the AHL’s Tucson Roadrunners, where he scored 11 goals and added 16 assists for 27 points in 65 games.

Roy was taken by the Canadiens in the fifth round of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft. He scored 135 goals and 162 assists for 297 points in 216 QMJHL regular-season games with the Saint John Sea Dogs and Sherbrooke Phoenix. His best season came in 2021-22, where he potted 51 goals and added 68 assists for 119 points with the Phoenix.

He was selected to the QMJHL’s First All-Star Team in both 2021-22 and 2022-23.

Internationally, he helped Canada win two gold medals at back-to-back World Junior Championships in 2022 and 2023.
