L’Heureux was in the final year of his three-year entry-level contract with an $863,334 cap hit, and was set to become a restricted free agent at the end of the season. The contract is a one-way contract, meaning he will make the same salary at both the NHL and AHL levels. His salary does slightly adjust over the course of the two seasons, as he’ll make $850,000 in the 2026-27 season and $900,000 in 2027-28.
L’Heureux technically sees a $11,667 increase in annual salary with his new deal, although he actually originally had a cap hit of $925,000 on his first contract. Since the contract slid for two years but he was still paid his $92,500 signing bonus over the two years, it readjusted his cap hit to $863,334.
L’Heureux hasn’t gotten into a ton of NHL action this season between two stints with the Milwaukee Admirals which totaled three months, and a lower-body injury which kept him out for 14 games, which has also impacted his on-ice production, at least at the NHL level. In just 10 games with the Predators, he has only one goal, a big step back from his rookie season in 2024-25 where he had five goals and 10 assists for 15 points in 62 games.
L’Heureux also has 14 goals and 14 assists for 28 points in 28 AHL games with the Admirals this season.
L’Heureux is already the third extension handed out by the Predators ahead of the 2026 offseason, joining goaltender Justus Annunen and center Jake Lucchini as players preemptively locked up for at least next season. The Predators still have around $31.5 million in salary cap space entering the summer with six UFAs and seven RFAs left to re-sign, highlighted by Justin Barron, Erik Haula and Fyodor Svechkov.
