Injury
Tavares (illness) will play on Thursday vs. the Canadiens.
Tavares missed the last three games with an illness but will be back in the lineup tonight in Montreal. The Islanders scored just five goals in the three games without Tavares, but they will get their captain back this evening. He has 11 points (5G / 6A) in 10 games this season and should be activated in all formats.

Injury
Tavares (illness) practiced on Wednesday; could play on Thursday.
Tavares missed the last three games with an illness, but he was a full participant in practice on Wednesday, which is a good sign that he will return to the lineup on Thursday in Montreal. Monitor Tavares’ status during Thurday’s morning skate.

Injury
Tavares (illness) skated this morning but will not play on vs. the Devils.
Tavares will miss his third consecutive game with an illness. Despite not play tonight, it was a good sign that Tavares was able to take part in the Islanders’ morning skate. Monitor his status prior to Thursday’s game in Montreal.

Injury
Tavares (illness) is expected to be out for “a little bit.”
Tavares missed both games this weekend and Monday’s practice. Head coach Jack Capuano said after the session that Tavares is still very sick and that he doesn’t “expect him [back] for a little bit.” It seems highly unlikely that Tavares will be available for Tuesday’s game vs. New Jersey.

Injury
Tavares does not need surgery to repair a torn MCL, the injury requires an 8-12 week rehab.
Tavares is done for the remainder of the regular season. With the Islanders sitting 12 points out of the final playoff spot in the East, it seems very unlikely they will make the playoffs without their captain. Look for Tavares at the start of training camp for the 2014-15 season.

Injury
Tavares will miss the remainder of the NHL season after suffering damage to the MCL and meniscus in his left knee at the Sochi Olympics.
Tavares may need surgery, but a final decision won’t be made until Tavares returns to Long Island from Sochi. He is staying with Canada through its final two games of the Olympics to attend the medal ceremony. Tavares, the Islanders captain, leads the team with 66 points. In his four-plus seasons since joining the Islanders as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2009 draft, Tavares has missed only four games, including one this season with a minor hip injury.

Injury
Tavares will miss the remainder of the Olympics with a knee injury.
Tavares suffered a knee injury during Wednesday's 2-1 win over Lativa and did not return. There is no word on the severity of the knee injury, but it is expected to keep him sidelined for the remainder of the tournament. His injury means that Matt Duchene will slide into the lineup permanently. The injury did not look good originally and could carry into his season with the Islanders.

Injury
Tavares (lower-body) is out tonight.
Tavares who did not skate on Friday was declared as day-to-day with a lower-body injury that will keep him out of tonight's game vs. the Devils. Tavares has been extremely durable having only missed three games in the first four seasons of his NHL career. Brock Nelson will shift onto the first line with Tavares out.
