Brouwer has missed the last eight games with a finger issue, but s expected to return to the lineup Friday vs. the Devils. Brouwer has had a tough season, picking up 17 points (8G / 9A) in 36 games this season.

Brouwer skated in a no-contact jersey during the Flames morning skate on Wednesday, but will miss his eighth straight game tonight vs. San Jose. Monitor his status as we head into the weekend.

Brouwer left last Friday’s game with a hand injury and it will keep him out of the lineup tonight in Colorado. Brouwer is listed as day-to-day and will be replaced in the top06 by Michael Ferland.

Signing
The Flames have signed Troy Brouwer to a four-year deal worth $18 million ($4.5M AAV).
Brouwer had 18 goals and 21 assists (39 points) in 82 games with the Blues last season after he was traded for T.J. Oshie in the offseason. He has only missed one game in the last five years while averaging 22 goals and 20 assists per 82 games over that span. He’ll bring some experience to an otherwise youthful top-6 that includes Sam Bennett, 20, Sean Monahan, 21, and Johnny Gaudreau, 22.

Brouwer (maintenance) missed the morning skate but will play in Game 2.
Brouwer was held off of the scoresheet in game one, but his line was very effective. He played over 22 minutes and had one shot and five hits. He has just 19 career playoff points (7G / 12A) in 79 career playoff games.

Brouwer suffered a lower-body injury in the season opener while blocking a Griffin Reinhart slapshot. Brouwer is expected to play according to Ken Hitchcock, but if he can’t go, Scottie Upshall will suit up for his Blues’ debut.

Following a full day off Tuesday, Brouwer was not on the ice for practice Wednesday. It was a maintenance day for Brouwer, a team spokesman said.
The Caps have the habit of calling legitimate injuries maintenance days so it wouldn't be surprising if Brouwer misses a game or two. In his first 80 games with the Caps, Brouwer scored 18 goals and 32 points.
