Heinen has been at camp with Boston on a PTO since the preseason and will make his season debut on Monday after he finally signed a one-year, $775,000 contract earlier today. The 28-year-old left-winger had eight goals, 14 assists, 96 SOG, 12 PIMs, and a -5 plus/minus in 65 games with Pittsburgh in 2022-23. He is entering his eighth NHL season and returns to Boston where he spent the first four years of his career. Patrick Brown will sit out in place of Heinen.

Heinen missed the final two games before the All-Star break with an upper-body injury but was a full participant in Monday's practice and will be a game-time decision on Tuesday. Heinen skated on the third line with Evan Rodrigues and Radim Zohorna in Monday's session.

Heinen has missed the last four games while n COVID-19 protocol but is expected to be back in the lineup on Thursday. While he's officially listed as a game-time decision, expect him to be back on a line with Jeff Carter and Evan Rodrigues.

Heinen was one of four Ducks' players that was added to the COVID-19 protocol list on Tuesday, putting Wednesday's game in jeopardy. With Heinen likely unavailable vs. the Wild, look for Max Comtois to draw back into the lineup.

Heinen's production continues to trend downward after his 47-point campaign in 2017-18. He has just seven goals and 15 assists through 58 games this season.The 24-year-old carries a $2.8M cap hit through the 2020-21 season.

Heinen has missed the last four games with a foot issue but will play this afternoon in Detroit. Heinen will replace Anton Blidh and will start on the fourth line with Par Lindholm and Chris Wagner.

Heinen was banged up last night in Winnipeg and is expected to be replaced by Anton Blidh on Saturday. Consider Heinen as day-to-day.

Heinen has been held pointless in his last five games and has just one goal and one assist in his last 12 games. David Backes will draw back into the lineup to replace Heinen.
