
Khokhlachev underwent hand surgery on November 10th but returned to the Providence lineup on December 4th. He has 20 points (6G / 14A) in 17 games with Providence, but no points in two games with the Bruins. He is eligible to play on Wednesday vs. the Penguins.
After spending two games with the Bruins, Khokhlachev was reassigned to Providence last Friday and suffered a hand injury that will require surgery over the weekend. Khokhlachev will miss at least one month.
Khokhlachev had three shots in two games with the Bruins during his call-up, but he has been swapped out for Frank Vatrano.
Khokhlachev, 22, has have a great start to the year with Providence, scoring four goals with nine assists (13 points) in 10 games. He was on the ice for the Bruins morning skate and skated on a line with David Krejci and Loui Eriksson, suggesting he could take David Pastrnak’s spot in the top six tonight.
Khokhlachev, 22, was expected to have a great chance to make the Bruins team out of training camp. The 2011 second round pick (40th overall) had 15 goals and 28 assists (43 points) in 61 games with Providence last season and that’s where he will start the 2015-16 season.
Khokhlachev had no points with a minus-2 rating in an average 8:12 TOI in three games during his recall.
Khokhlachev was recalled on Thursday on an emergency basis, it was presumably to replace Krejci in the lineup tonight vs. the Blue Jackets. He has five goals and 11 assists in 15 games for Providence.
Khokhlachev has skated in 15 games for the Providence Bruins this season, recording five goals (first on the team) and 11 assists (second on the team) for 16 points (tied for first on the team) with a plus-two rating. In total, the forward has appeared in 91 games with Providence from 2012 to 2014, racking up 28 goals and 48 assists.
No word yet on where Khokhlachev will plug into the lineup.
Khokhlachev will make his NHL debut this afternoon. Khokhlachev has scored 21 goals and 36 assists (57 points) in 63 games with Providence this season.
