Volchenkov suffered a lower-body injury in the Predators win over the Panthers on Tuesday. The injury did not improve over the week and he was held out of Saturday’s game in Minnesota. He is considered questionable for Monday’s game vs. the Blue Jackets.
Volchenkov did not play on Saturday night, he was replaced by Victor Bartley. Volchenkov likely suffered the injury on Thursday vs. the Blues, where he played just 11:18. He is questionable for Tuesday’s clash with Colorado. Bartley will remain in the lineup until Volchenkov is 100 percent.
Volchenkov was suspended for his hit on Flames rookie Michael Ferland on October 31st. Ferland suffered a concussion on the play and still is not back. He will be paired with Seth Jones tonight.

Volchenkov was suspended for an elbow he dished out to Bruins forward Brad Marchand last night. It was a vicious elbow and Marchand left the game and did not return. He also won't play tonight. Volchenkov is also a repeat offender which didn't help his cause.
He could become the latest to be suspended after his Thursday morning phone hearing with NHL disciplinarian Brendan Shananan for throwing an elbow the night before. He appeared to lead with his elbow when hitting Brad Marchand in the head during the second period. The Boston Bruins winger grabbed his head and slowly dropped to the ice. Marchand had to be helped to the dressing room and the Bruins announced during the third period that he was not returning for the night. There was no update on his condition after the game. Volchenkov received a five-minute major and game misconduct.
We may not have NHL in 4-6 weeks so this could not impact a potential NHL season.
Volchenkov will begin the playoffs on a healthy note. He finished the regular season with two goals and 11 points in 72 games.
