The Calgary Flames recalled Brad Thiessen from Adirondack (AHL).

Thiessen, 29, has gone 10-14-7 with a 3.02 GAA and .905 SV% in 32 games with Adirondack this season. With the Flames pushing for the playoffs, he is unlikely to see any action ahead of Jonas Hiller in the final week of the season.

Pens goalie Brad Thiessen has been recalled from the minors.

Thiessen may get a look as the Pens try to assess their situation between the pipes. At this point, Brent Johnson simply is not cutting it as the team's backup.

ST. LOUIS – St. Louis Blues Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced Saturday the club has assigned defenseman Cade Fairchild and forward Brett Sterling to the Blues’ American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Peoria Rivermen.

Sterling drew into a few games but was unable to make an impact at the NHL level. The career minor leaguer holds no fantasy hockey value.

There is, simply put, nothing Thiessen can do to earn a spot on the Penguins' opening-night roster.

The 25-year-old will be demoted to the AHL at the end of training camp. Thiessen won 35 of his 46 starts last season with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. Should Marc-Andre Fleury get hurt, the Pens have a solid contingency plan.
