Lerg did not record a point and had one shot on goal in three games with the Sharks. His return to the AHL suggests that Ben Smith could be back in the lineup on Wednesday vs. Nashville.
Lerg was sent down on Wednesday with the belief that Joonas Donskoi would be ready to play on Thursday, but Donskoi is unavailable, so Lerg has been recalled and will be in the lineup tonight.
Lerg failed to record a point in his first game of the season and has been sent back to the AHL already. Micheal Haley will take his place on Thursday.
Lerg, 29, has two goals in three games with the Sharks AHL affiliate. Lerg played in his first two NHL games last season, he scored one goal.
Lerg leads the Worcester Sharks with 41 points (13G / 28A) in 66 games at the AHL level. He has never played in an NHL game before.
