It is the first time Ward has skated since being injured on October 24. His original timetable was 2-3 weeks, so he is still a week away from returning to the Hurricanes crease. Expect Justin Peters to continue to start in Ward and Anton Khudobin's absence.

Ward allowed three goals on 12 shots after coming in to relieve Anton Khudobin. If Khudobin's injury forces him to miss an extended period of time, Ward will likely start the vast majority of the games going forward. He has a good history against the Blackhawks, but it still isn't a great matchup.
