Ward likely to get the start for the Hurricanes.

Ward played well stopping 35 of 38 shots in a 3-2 overtime loss to the Red Wings on Friday. Anton Khudobin was given the following start so it is a near certainty that Ward will be in the cage tonight vs. Pittsburgh. He stopped 26 of 27 shots in a winning effort in his only start vs. the Penguins last year.

Ward allowed three goals on 38 shots in a 3-2 overtime loss to the Red Wings in Carolina's home opener. Besides losing, Ward looked excellent after missing much of last season with a knee injury. Should he start, he will face the 0-2 Philadelphia Flyers who have scored only two goals in their first two games.

The Hurricanes will now have to go with Dan Ellis and Justin Peters as their goaltenders.
