Cooley will start vs. Washington on Friday.

Despite Dustin Wolf occupying the starter's crease earlier during morning skate, Devin Cooley was the first goalie off the ice and will start vs. Washington on Friday. It is the 5th straight time that Cooley and Wolf have swapped starts as a trend seems to be appearing in the Flames' crease. The 28-year-old has earned his extended minutes, posting a ridiculous .922 SV% and 2.18 GAA to go alongside his 6-4-3 record. He will host the Washington Capitals on Friday, who are in the midst of a rare four game losing streak.

Cooley will start vs. New Jersey on Monday.

Minnesota's success earlier this season was largely aided by elite goaltending, which they have struggled to find in recent games. That said, Gustavsson helped his team record a 5-4 victory in their most recent game despite allowing four goals on 24 shots (.833 SV%). The 27-year-old Gustavsson has a 2.84 GAA and .880 SV% in his last four games (1-2-1). Minnesota enters Monday's contest as slight -102 road underdogs against a Toronto Maple Leafs team that is 7-2-1 in its last 10 games.

Devin Cooley
Cooley will start in Chicago on Thursday.

Cooley has been a bright spot in a mostly disappointing season for the Flames and has been solid in his last two games (2-0-0), saving 61 of 65 combined shots (.938 SV%). The 28-year-old California-born goalie has a 2.29 GAA and .918 SV% in 14 appearances this season (5-4-2). The Flames enter the action on Thursday as +109 road underdogs against a Chicago Blackhawks team that will welcome their leading scorer, Connor Bedard (illness), back into the lineup.

Devin Cooley
Calgary has signed Devin Cooley to a two-year contract worth $1.35M AAV ($2.7M total).

Cooley has unexpectedly been excellent in a supporting role in his first season as a full-time NHL backup and has been rewarded with a two-year contract extension. The 28-year-old California-born goalie has a solid 2.40 GAA and .914 SV% in 13 appearances (4-4-2).

Devin Cooley
Cooley will start vs. Detroit on Wednesday.

Cooley controlled the Flames' crease for the latter part of November, regularly putting together tremendous efforts, but had a poor 12-save performance (.750 SV%) in a 5-1 loss to the Nashville Predators on December 2nd, and has not played since. The 28-year-old Cooley returns to the crease on Wednesday against the Detroit Red Wings, hoping to rediscover the heroic play that earned him an elite 1.66 GAA and .934 SV% in seven November appearances (3-1-1). The Flames enter Wednesday's contest as slight -101 home underdogs against a Detroit Red Wings team with points in five straight games (3-0-2).

Devin Cooley
Cooley will start in Nashville on Tuesday.

The Flames were expected to heavily rely on Dustin Wolf after last year's impressive rookie season, but he has faltered out of the gates, resulting in the team leaning on Devin Cooley in recent weeks. The 28-year-old Cooley was excellent in his most recent game, but received no goal support, saving 16 of 17 shots (.941 SV%) in a 1-0 overtime loss to the Carolina Hurricanes. Cooley has a sparkling 1.88 GAA and .930 SV% in 10 appearances this season (3-2-2). The Flames enter Tuesday's contest as slight +104 road underdogs against the league-worst Nashville Predators (8-13-4).

Cooley will start vs. Carolina on Sunday.

Devin Cooley only started once in Calgary’s first 11 games, but he has earned the trust of the coaching staff during a stretch of inconsistent play for Dustin Wolf, and returns to the crease for the fourth time in six games on Sunday against the Carolina Hurricanes. The 28-year-old Cooley was excellent in his most recent game, saving 37 of 40 shots (.925 SV%) in a 5-3 win over the Florida Panthers. Cooley has a 2.01 GAA and .930 SV% in nine appearances this season (3-2-1).

Cooley will start in Florida on Friday.

Wolf has been outdone by his counterpart, allowing Cooley to see increased action in recent weeks, a trend that will continue on Friday against the Florida Panthers. The 28-year-old Cooley has a dazzling 1.86 GAA and .930 SV% in eight appearances this season (2-2-1). He has allowed more than two goals in a game only once this season.

Cooley will start in Buffalo on Wednesday.

Earlier in the season, the Flames were playing Dustin Wolf on both ends of back-to-backs, but have seemingly been more comfortable lately with Cooley, who will tend the twine on Wednesday against the Buffalo Sabres. The 28-year-old Cooley has yet to record a win this season, but has been impressive in limited action, posting a 1.75 GAA and .935 SV% in five appearances (0-2-1). The Flames enter Wednesday's contest as +137 road underdogs against a Sabres team coming off a 5-1 win over the Edmonton Oilers.

Devin Cooley
Cooley will start in Ottawa on Thursday.

The Flames have heavily entrusted their crease to Dustin Wolf this season, starting 10 of 11 games, but he will get a rare night off on Thursday when the team turns to Cooley for only the second time. The 28-year-old Cooley was excellent in his only start of the season, saving 29 of 31 shots (.935 SV%), but, as has been the case most of the season, the Flames did not receive ample goal support and fell 3-1 to the Utah Mammoth. The Flames enter Thursday's contest as +145 road underdogs against a Senators team scoring 3.7 goals per game.

Devin Cooley
Cooley will start in Utah on Wednesday.

The Flames turned to Dustin Wolf in both games of their first back-to-back set this season, but will flip the script on the tail end of their second back-to-back on Wednesday against the Utah Mammoth, giving Cooley his first start this season. The 28-year-old Cooley made his NHL debut last season, posting a much-to-be-desired 4.98 GAA and .870 SV% in six contests (2-3-1). If the first week of the season is any indication, Cooley's deployment could be very limited in 2025-26, as Wolf could easily surpass the 53 appearances he had in the crease in 2024-25.
